Tom Cotter and stars of ‘The Wrenchmen’ headline SEMA for Hagerty
The circus that is the Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show, better known as SEMA, begins on Monday, Oct. 31, in Las Vegas. It’s a curious mix of widely varying tastes and abilities that somehow attracts the most old-school hotrodders along with foreign entrepreneurs who recently started a wheel or fastener company. The people are a perfect metaphor for the spectrum of cars.
Although the SEMA show receives a lot of media coverage because of the wild cars that debut there, it is important to note that it is a “closed” show. Only industry insiders are permitted entry. There isn’t much that we can do about that, but we wish it were more accessible, as do our partners at Shell. To that end, Tom Cotter, star of our “Barn Find Hunter” series and Matt Lewis and Davin Reckow, co-stars of our new “Wrenchmen” series, will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the Shell Live Stage, outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. So if you can’t hustle yourself a ticket to SEMA, we’ve got you covered. However, if you do have a ticket to the spectacle, you can also meet all of the aforementioned stars at the Hagerty booth inside the Convention Center. We’ll have one other celebrity hanging around the booth, too: the “Swap to Street” Challenge 1930 Ford Model A.
The Model A is the same car that four Hagerty employees (Randy Clouse, Brett Lirones, Brad Phillips and Reckow) recently built over four days at the AACA Hershey (Pa.) Fall Swap Meet, from parts sourced at the Meet.
