Matt Farah’s 5.0-liter Fox-body Mustang notchback could be yours
Matt Farah, the affable, heavy-footed host of The Smoking Tire podcast and dozens of “One Take” car reviews on YouTube, is unloading his 1988 Ford Mustang on Bring a Trailer. Matt’s Fox-body graced the cover of Car Craft magazine, was shot by Larry Chen for Speedhunters, and garnered quite a bit of attention due to its great looks and upgraded performance.
The Mustang began life as a Special Service Package (SSP), so it lacks air conditioning, a radio, and other power-operated amenities. That makes it pretty much the perfect starting point for ultimate Fox-body performance, thanks to its low weight. Under the hood is a Ford Racing 302-cu-in V-8 linked to a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox, but Farah is quick to point out that this car was built with more than horsepower in mind.
Disc brakes and an independent rear suspension from a Mustang Cobra up the braking and handling quotient. The Fox-body rolls on 18×10.5-inch HRE wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires tucked into flared fenders. Despite the added complexity of the IRS and the weight of a rollcage, curb weight remains a feather-light (for an ‘80s Mustang) 3110 pounds.

With just under a week to go, bidding is up to $65,000. Matt is splitting the proceeds with charity, so not only does the new owner have to find a spot in their garage, they have to pick a worthy charity to take half of their winning bid.
