9 mid-’70s Trans Am barn-find muscle cars for sale

Thanks to barnfinds.com, some rare mid-’70s Trans Ams might be finding their way back onto the road after spending decades in a Minnesota warehouse.

The treasure trove of nine Pontiacs includes four 1974 SD 455 Trans Ams, a drag car owned by Pontiac legend Jim Wangers, and a 1975 Trans Am project that so far has a high bid of $1000 with only three days left.

The design of the 1974 and ’75 Trans Am falls between the bumperless split-grille models of 1970–73 and the Bandit-style 1977–78 models, so they don’t have quite the widespread appeal, although they do pack quite a bit of muscle, as the majority of the muscle car market was decimated by emissions regulations while Pontiac managed to soldier on. The SD 455 was a holdover—indebted to the low-powered Pontiac 455s in full-size cars for its continued existence in an otherwise emissions-choked era. The 455 managed 290 horsepower for 1974, its final year of production.
