Those old enough to remember might recall the Ferrari market boom for the late 1980s and early ‘90s, and this car came to market smack-dab in the middle of it. $1.6M is a huge amount of money today and was obviously even more substantial 28 years ago, but history tells us that buying this car as an investment would have been a mistake. Not too long after this ad was placed, the classic Ferrari market did a colossal face plant. It only fully recovered a few years back, and GTB prices have actually retreated quite a bit since the beginning of 2016. It just goes to show that the collector car market, even for blue chip classics like the 275 GTB, ebbs and flows like most anything else.
