Instagram Jump Start: 1966 Ford Thunderbird shakes its tail feathers

It appears there are a lot of bird watchers out there in the automotive community. But one bird, in particular, always gets more than its share of looks (and likes) – the Ford Thunderbird. This week, the Instagram community was particularly enamored with the tail of a golden 1966 model. You made it the most popular photo that we posted on HagertyClassicCars.

1966 Ford Thunderbird (1,230 likes) – Last of the fourth generation, the redesigned 1966 Ford Thunderbird had revised taillights. A three-piece unit extended the full width of the rear, and the backup light was located in the center section.
1936 Auburn 852 Phaeton (1,197) – The original owner of this 1936 Auburn 852 Phaeton lived in Cyprus and hoped to take a tour from Italy to Berlin for the 1936 Olympic Games. The supercharged Auburn was later used by the British Army during WWII before coming to the United States. Now it is part of the collection at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Ind.
1972 DeTomaso Pantera (1,118) – Styled by famed Italian design firm Ghia, the sleek 1972 DeTomaso Pantera stands only 43 inches high, making it a bit uncomfortable for drivers taller than 6 feet.
1936 Cord 810 Westchester (1,037) – Avid world traveler Josh Malks and his wife, Betty, drove this 1936 Cord 810 Westchester sedan throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East. Named “Moonshadow” for its Cadet Grey paint, the Cord 810 is powered by a 288.6-cid V-8 engine. It sold for $1,995 new – equal to about $34,193 in today’s money. We admired it at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Ind.
1964 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 (1000) – The 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 four-door sedan weighs 5,415 pounds and carries a 340-hp, 429-cid V-8 engine. Only 617 were produced.

One We Love But You Only Liked – Every week there’s a photo on HagertyClassicCars that we think deserved a lot more “likes” than it received. This one – a reflective close-up of the badging on a custom 1962 Chrysler 300 Sport Series 2 – is one of those.
