Save Ferris! Hagerty Motor-In Movie Night at Laguna Seca
Travel back in time with Hagerty to the good old days of drive-in movies as we host a Motor-In Movie Night at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca the evening of Thursday, October 29. The movie? That classic from 1986 by John Hughes, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Featuring Matthew Broderick, some might argue that the real star of the show is the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder replica with which Ferris and his pals terrorize Chicago. All ticket proceeds from this event will go directly to the Monterey County Fire Relief Fund to aid those who suffered from the recent devastating fires.
Pricing for the Motor-In Movie Night is $20 per car for Hagerty Drivers Club members and $40 per car for non-members. Parking will begin at 5:00 p.m., with gates closing at 6:00 p.m.; the movie starts at 6:30 p.m. When you register online for the event, food options will be available for pre-order and can be picked up on your arrival. Social distancing and PPE protocols will be observed. Upon your arrival to the show, no-touch temperature checks will be done for every passenger, and cars will be spaced at least six feet apart. Each vehicle may be occupied by members of the same household.

A fun Ferris Ferrari Fact: Although there were three replicas used in the movie, a genuine 250 GT California Spyder—one of only 100 made—was used for close-up shots. While an original California Spyder is worth around $17 million, in January of this year, one of the movie replicas hammered sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction for $396,000. This particular car had recently been fully restored by Modena Design co-founder Neil Glassmoyer, who founded the company; Modena Design is the company that originally provided the replicas for the film. Despite not having the legendary Ferrari V-12, its 7.0-liter Chevy V-8 paired with a five-speed manual is probably still an amusing partner in vehicular shenanigans.
