Cadillac teases CT5-V Blackwing’s carbon-fiber seats

Cadillac has given us the first glimpse of the racing seats destined for the range-topping 2022 CT5-V Blackwing that’s due next summer. The glossy carbon-fiber seat backs are book-matched, with the weave pattern mirrored on each side and meeting in a neat central seam. Cadillac has only shared a single image of the seats but promises the seats will have “other customer-centric innovations and features”—other than the laser-etched V emblems—that will be announced later.

In case you’re confused about the Blackwing moniker, that’s the new name for Cadillac’s top performance trim; the CT4-V and CT5-V have been demoted to mid-level performance status. (Apparently eyeing Lexus’s F-Sport models and BMW’s M prefixed offerings, Cadillac’s embracing the trend of trickle-down performance labeling.) Expect the CT5-V Blackwing to continue the tradition established with the second- and third-generation CTS-V by bringing supercharged V-8 power to the party—although the exact power output is anyone’s guess. So far, all we’ve got is an audio-only clip of the CT5-V Blackwing accelerating.

Cadillac has previously teased the CT5-V Blackwing’s steering wheel and included an Easter egg that hinted the new performance sedan would be capable of speeds in excess of 200 mph. We don’t see any hidden text or other fragments of info to glean from this photo, so we’ll have to wait until Cadillac releases another tidbit of info.
