Race team one-ups McLaren with anniversary specials
Mclaren may have its 720S Le Mans edition, but race team Lanzante has gone even bigger with its celebrations of the brand’s famous 1995 win.
Lanzante ran the team that took the McLaren F1 to the top of the podium in the storied French 24-hour race with drivers JJ Lehto, Masanori Sekiya and Yannick Dalmas sharing wheeltime.
To mark 25 years of the achievement Lanzante is producing seven LM25 edition McLarens, each built to emulate the glory-taking F1 of 1995. The color is changed to Ueno Grey, with lighter grey detailing, weight-saving carbon-fiber five-spoke alloy wheels are added, and gold brake calipers with red Brembo lettering are fitted. Each car also wears a subtle number 59 and a LM25 logo.
The interiors receive lightweight seats with red and blue harnesses, an Alcantara steering wheel, carbon door sills, carbon floor mats, and gold anodized pedals and switchgear.
The engines are left unchanged but gold ceramic heat shields add a touch of glamor under the hood, and the exhaust tips are also gold ceramic.
The conversion to LM25 spec is being offered on the 600LT and 765LT coupe and Spider plus the Senna, Senna GTR, and one more, as-yet-unnamed model. The LM25 treatments costs $188,000 and customers provide their own car.
