The Mullin Museum has published another installment of its weekly “Under the Hood” video series to keep car lovers entertained even when the museum is closed. The videos kicked off with a quick look at a 1994 Bugatti EB 110 Supersport Le Mans, and the latest video features Mullin Museum docent Rick Eberst showing off what makes the Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS “Goutte d’Eau” or “Teardrop” so special.

While its sleek, streamlined body built by coachbuilder Figoni et Falaschi gets lots of attention, what’s under the bodywork of the T150-C-SS also deserves praise. The car sits on a racing chassis and uses a triple-carbed, 4.0-liter, straight-six engine with a hemispherical aluminum cylinder head. In race tune, that engine tore up the track. Even in street trim, it moves the svelte grand tourer with ease.

Opening up the suicide doors reveals a plush leather interior with matching bespoke luggage and an engine-turned dash filled with tasteful gauges. The most interesting interior detail, however, is the transmission—we’ll let Eberst explain it in detail.

Three more “under the hood” videos will be released, one every Friday. Stay tuned to discover more about the following cars:

  • 1938 Dubonnet Hispano-Suiza H6B “Xenia”
  • 1934 Avions Voisin Type C27 Grand Sport Roadster
  • 1931 Bugatti Type 50S
