Now you can supercharge your Mustang GT to 700 hp and keep the warranty
If you own a 2018 or 2019 Ford Mustang GT and thought it could use some extra grunt, you can now add a factory-warrantied, emissions-compliant supercharger kit from Ford Performance that will boost your V-8 to 700 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. That’s up considerably from the standard 460 hp and 420 lb-ft in the standard GT.
Ford originally announced the blower kit back in 2017, with plans to go on sale in early 2018, but that deadline came and went. The reason for the delay hasn’t been publicized. My guess is longer-than-expected development testing for durability and compliance.
The 2.65-liter R2650 supercharger is supplied by Eaton, part of their Twin Vortices Series. Boost is factory-set at 12 psi. The new TVS blower features four-lobe rotors and improved inlet and outlet ports, for increased thermal efficiency and a greater volumetric capacity at high revs.
The $7699 kit also includes new fuel rails, fuel injectors, a larger throttle body, and an air-to-water intercooler the chill the charge.
Ford Performance says that the kit passes emissions regulations in all 50 states.
You’ll need to get the kit professionally installed to be eligible for coverage under the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, but Ford is not requiring customers to have that job performed at a Ford dealer. Any ASE certified technician will do.
If you’re hoping to have a 700-hp Bullitt, though, you’re out of luck. The kit is only compatible with regular Mustang GT models, although that includes examples equipped with the Performance Pack 1 and Performance Pack 2.
