Today’s featured car is a 1987 BMW M6 turbocharged and variously hotted-up by tuning house Dinan. Though Steve Dinan himself is no longer in charge of the company, he helped lead the movement of tuning BMWs, particularly via the forced-induction strategy. The ’87 M6 was no slouch to begin with, packing the M1’s 282-hp six-cylinder, a limited-slip diff, and the oversteer-reducing “track link” suspension from the 7 Series.
This particular M6 belongs to Colin Keshen and, in addition to the car’s infamous “Sharknose” lines, it boasts a potent Dinan turbo package good for 400 hp. When Keshen discovered tis M6, nicknamed “The Annihilator,” he lived in Nova Scotia, and the car was thousands of miles away in California—but that didn’t diminish his desire to own it. Back in 1988, the Dinan-tuned M6 could give a Lamborghini Countach a run for its money, and it was still captivating.
The M6 has thrown a few curveballs Keshen’s way—including a ruptured turbo after only a few weeks of driving—but he’s continued to invest in the car to keep it on the road. Cheers to that!
