So long, Renegade: Entry-level Jeep gone after 2023
The Fiat-based Renegade is disappearing from the Jeep lineup in the U.S. and Canada after the 2023 model year, reports Automotive News. Its departure was confirmed by a Jeep spokesperson.
The Renegade, which starts at $29,445, may have been priced too close to the Jeep Compass, which starts at $29,995, and apparently will be Jeep’s least expensive product going into 2024.
The Renegade went on sale in 2015 and had its best year in 2016, when it logged 106,606 sales, says Automotive News. Sales have dropped every year since, dropping to 27,549 in 2022, and are down 35 percent more this year through September.
The model will continue to be sold in markets including Mexico, Europe, South America, and Asia Pacific, “where the Jeep Renegade is core to our business,” the Jeep spokesperson said.
The news is disappointing to at least one Renegade owner on the Hagerty.com staff, editor Kyle Smith. “While I was disappointed early in my ownership of our Jeep Renegade, that feeling has given way to one of something just short of love. It took six years, but I finally realized that the Renegade might indeed be the budget option of Jeep’s lineup, and that all but guaranteed a simple vehicle. The lack of complex driver aids makes the whole car feel 20 years older than it is, and for a luddite like me that is a lovely experience.
“Even optioned with the factory receiver hitch and winter package we got out the door under $28,000 and have covered over 57,000 miles since. It will not be leaving my garage anytime soon. Farewell, Renegade, you carved out a place in even this cold carmudgeon’s heart.”
The departure of the Renegade follows the announcement that the Jeep Cherokee will be discontinued as well.

One less electrical problem on the market.
Renegade and Cherokee gone is no loss, it’s a net gain.
well deserved reputation for terribleness with both
Ever since that style came out, my husband and I have called them “dead Jeeps”. Why? Because of the ridiculous cross-hatched tail lights. WHY did they go with those?
