Nissan teases NISMO Z in tire-shredding video
Nissan has released what has sort of become the obligatory tire-abusing video for new performance cars, this one for the eagerly anticipated Nissan Z NISMO, for those who think the current Z’s 400-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V-6 isn’t enough.
And judging from how much fun three-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg is having in the 44-second video burning down those Dunlop tires (on black 9-spoked wheels, the same we showed you in spy photos), 400 horses clearly isn’t enough.
The car is a Gray Sky Pearl, a color already on Nissan’s palette. Red trim runs along the bottom of the side skirts and front and rear diffusers, and on the outside mirrors – the exterior styling may be more modest than those expecting it to be GTR-ish, especially the modest rear spoiler. A NISMO badge is on the rear bumper, beneath the Nissan logo, and on the driver’s side of the grille.
The engine emits a much more aggressive note than the stock model does when Forsberg hits the red “start” button – the term “rorty” comes to mind. The performance we see would suggest at least another 75 horsepower, but possibly more. An underhood shot looks entirely and disappointingly stock, including the standard strut bar across the engine.
Inside, the very thin racing-styled seats, which read NISMO but are presumably Recaros, are black with big red inserts and have cutouts for racing shoulder belts.
Nissan promises full details later this summer, but we like what we’re seeing here so far.

There is a car everyone seemed to be excited about and now nothing, crickets. I have seen one in the wild after all this time.
It’s videos like this that temp stupid drivers to try the same thing… to drive like an idiot on public roads.
