What do we know now that we didn’t know before viewing an ultra close-up, 27-second teaser video about Cadillac’s new electric Escalade? Pretty much nothing that we couldn’t have guessed. This one’s black, with ultra low-profile tires on spoked, finned wheels, plus a panoramic sunroof, a computer screen on the dash, a lip over the tailgate that contains a stoplight, and a nose that has a bunch of LED light patterns. Handsome, stately patterns, to be sure—kind of a smiling, long-lashed pattern at rest. The light signature clearly puts the Escalade IQ in the same family as the Lyriq, Cadillac’s electric crossoever.

We also know this: The electric Escalade will be revealed on August 9, 2023, in New York City. “As the brand’s first-ever all-electric full-size SUV, Escalade IQ represents the reinvention of Cadillac’s most iconic nameplate. ” Escalade is the brand’s most iconic nameplate? Yeah, guess it is.

Says Cadillac: “The debut of Escalade IQ marks the next step in Cadillac’s commitment to offering a fully electric portfolio by the end of the decade. The Escalade IQ will be produced at Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, which was renovated and retooled with a $2.2 billion investment to serve as the launchpad for GM’s EV strategy.” Said strategy also includes the GMC Hummer.

What we can see of the Escalade IQ looks pretty handsome, in a WWE-wrestler sort of overkill way, but we could have guessed that, too. Here’s the video. Don’t blink:

Will this weigh 9000 pounds like the Hummer? It’s got enough room for a literal ton of batteries.
