Instagram Jump Start: Dads and Le Mans race for the checkered flag
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, what’s a video worth? We don’t have that answer, but we’re thinking it’s a lot. We posted more videos on Instagram this week than in the previous five months combined, and all four scored a place among the top five most-liked posts on Hagerty’s Instagram account last week. So, with a nod to Father’s Day and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, here’s what you liked best:
-
2016 Porsche 911 GT3 (2,530 views) – A Porsche 991 GT3 fires up the crowd at the drivers parade in Le Mans, France, on the eve of the 84th endurance race. The 24 Hours of Le Mans begins Saturday at 3 p.m. local time (9 a.m. Eastern U.S.).
-
1965 Ford Mustang (2,339 views) – Happy Father’s Day! To all those men who pass their love for cars on to their kids: THANKS, DAD! (Scroll back to see Father’s Day videos posted on Friday and Saturday.)
-
1969 Chevrolet Camaro (1,737 views) – As Father’s Day approaches, we want to give a shout out to those dads who pass the passion for cars on to their kids – and their kids’ kids. THANKS, DAD! (Watch for additional videos coming Saturday and Sunday.)
-
1957 Buick Century Caballero Estate Wagon (1,512 likes) – Donated to the George W. Bush Foundation by its original owner, this top-of-the-line 1957 Buick Century Caballero Estate Wagon was restored by Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage. The wagon is powered by a 364-cid, 300-hp OHV V-8 engine, and it has the signature of the United States’ 43rd President on the inside of the driver’s door.
-
Father-Daughter drag cars (1,492 views) – As Father’s Day approaches, we want to give a shout out to those dads who fuel the next generation’s love for cars. THANKS, DAD! (Scroll back to see Friday’s video, and watch for the finale on Sunday.)
Best of the Rest – Competition was fierce for this week’s “Best of the Rest” honors. There’s so much great photography out there and we liked so many different posts that it almost came down to a coin flip. But after scanning the thousands of automotive posts on Instagram that aren’t on @HagertyClassicCars, we settled on a favorite: Robert Angelo’s photo of a classic Dodge Power Wagon near the Teton Dam in Idaho. We think you’ll agree, it’s an eye catcher.
