Porsche pays tribute to the Carrera RS 2.7 with new GT3 RS package
Buyers of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS can turn their cars into an homage to the 1972 Carrera RS 2.7 by opting for a style and accessories pack that’s exclusive to the United States.
The starting point is a GT3 RS in white, fitted with the Weissach Package, and a leather and Race-Tex interior, to which the Tribute to Carrera RS Package adds Viper Green decals with matching magnesium wheels, mirror caps and GT3 RS graphics. Brake calipers are painted high gloss black, and the rear wing end plates are capped with an RS logo and the Stars and Stripes, with the main wing vane featuring the Porsche script on its underside—all in glorious green.
The interior already boast an abundance of carbon fiber, and you’ll also find green stitching to match the exterior signage, illuminated sill plates featuring the words “Tribute to Carrera RS”, and a center console lid embossed with the RS logo. The key is white, just like the paintwork.
Beyond the car itself Porsche is offering a selection of goodies to further enhance the ownership experience including a Porsche Design watch with a Viper Green winder, white bezel and strap stitching to complement the car. A bespoke car cover, RS valve stem caps in Python Green, and custom license plate frames are also thrown in, along with a pair of 1:43 scale model cars—one being the 1972 Carrera RS 2.7 and the other a facsimile of the new machine. There’s even a NFT program that rewards customers with digital badges for attending Porsche events.
Under the hood the Tribute to Carrera RS remains standard, with its 518-hp normally-aspirated flat-six, seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and crazy active aero features that can generate 1895 pounds of downforce at 177 mph. The contrast with the 210 horsepower and ducktail spoiler of the original RS truly shows 50 years of Porsche progress.
Opt for the Tribute pack and you’ll pay $312,550—almost $90,000 more than the car on which it’s based. Oh, and it’s only available as an option for those who’ve already placed an order, because the entire U.S. allocation has already been sold.
