For a movie star car who you gonna call?

Volo Cars

If you want to get your hands on some automotive movie history, you’d better call Volo Cars of Illinois. Or better yet, bid on the company’s upcoming auction of no reserve star cars.

Volo Cars is a dealership and museum 50 miles north of Chicago with a constant turnover of mostly American muscle. The museum houses a vast collection of exhibits on vintage campers, military machines, cars of the rich and famous, and, notably, stars of the big and small screen.

Now, Volo Cars is set to sell off a selection of its Hollywood heroes in an eBay auction from April 14–21. Up for grabs are cars from Ghostbusters, Ford v Ferrari, Fast Five, The Green Hornet, Let Him Go, and Soggy Bottom.

Ghostbusters

This 1981 Cadillac hearse (above) was built to promote the 2016 iteration of Ghostbusters which means that the Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon never actually rode in this version of Ecto 1 that was put together by Casey Production and driven “extensively” in Las Vegas to hype the movie. For  just $20,000–$25,000 you could start chasing down something strange in your neighborhood,

Two screen machines from Ford v Ferrari are on offer. First up is a 1966 Ferrari GTB Competizione Speciale replica. The real deal is valued at $40 million, so picking up the Mustang-based copy for a potential $75,000–$85,000 looks like quite a steal. However, Volo Cars says that the 1965 Ford Econoline built to replicate one used by Shelby American attracts even more attention than the GT40 movie car. It could be yours for $30,000–$40,000.

Fast Five

The much-missed Paul Walker used this 1963 Corvette Grand Sport replica with Vin Diesel for the train heist in Fast Five. Volo Cars says it has been built to show standards, hence the $95,000–$100,000 estimated hammer price.

The Green Hornet

Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet didn’t exactly make a sting at the box office in 2011 (and scores just 44 percent on Rotten Tomatoes), however the 1966 Chrysler Imperial used in the movie could cause quite a buzz at the auction. It’s one of the stunt cars fitted with a Chevy 350 and Ford nine-inch rear end, and if that doesn’t get you excited perhaps the hood-mounted machine guns will. It’s estimated to sell for $35,000–$45,000.

Let Him Go

Fresh from the set of Kevin Costner and Diane Lane revenge thriller Let Him Go is this 1958 Chevrolet Nomad. The car features heavily in the film, yet is expected to be let go for just $10,000–$15,000.

Soggy Bottom

Bradley Coopers’ Soggy Bottom hasn’t even been released but you can buy the 1973 Ferrari Daytona replica that features in time to drive it to the premiere. It’s built on a 1980 Corvette chassis with a late 1980s TPI engine and also starred in the TV show 911.

Finally, if you miss out on the action at the auction Volo cars also has a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria from the 2004 Jimmy Fallon-Queen Latifah feature Taxi on offer for $39,998. The film scored a woeful nine percent on Rotten Tomatoes, so don’t expect a “fare” response if you buy this one.
