1987 Nissan 300ZX
Description
The Nissan Fairlady Z line debuted in 1970 with the 2.4-liter 240Z sports coupe, followed by a string of more powerful successors including the 260Z and 280Z. By the end of the decade, however, the Z-line had lost some of its sporting essence with the advent of the luxury-oriented 280ZX. Its immediate successor, the 300ZX, is undoubtedly responsible for restoring the Z’s athletic reputation with its all-new 3.0-liter V6 producing 180 horsepower. Introduced in 1984, the 300ZX also boasted a range of modern features, including electronically adjustable shocks, seat-integrated speakers, cruise and radio controls on the steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Outside, the Z’s modern appearance matched its sophisticated technology, with color-keyed bumpers, smoked taillights, retractable headlights, and 16-inch aluminum wheels. The 300ZX is remembered today as an important evolutionary between the original Z and the later “Z23” 300ZX introduced in 1989, and remains collectible for its impressive performance and robust build quality.
