1969 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper
Description
Released in late 1967, the second generation of the Volkswagen Type 2, commonly referred to as the VW Bus or other affectionate nicknames, would feature a similar distinctive boxy design with a rear-engine layout while updating some styling elements and chassis and electrical system refinements. Now offering an upgraded 12-volt electrical system, Volkswagen dealers would offer customers a variety of body styles ranging from a standard Microbus to a fully outfitted Westfalia camper conversion. Including a pop-up roof, fold-down rear bench seat that transformed into a bed, a small kitchenette with storage cabinets, this practical and functional design would prove to be immensely popular among camping enthusiasts, many of which are still enjoyed to this day. Now synonymous with a free-spirited and adventurous lifestyle associated with camping and road trips, the Volkswagen Westfalia remains a sought-after collector's item for vintage car enthusiasts and those with a love for retro camping vehicles
