When Nissan announced the development of the next-generation GT-R in 2002, hopes were high for the successor to the “R34” Skyline GT-R, affectionally known as “Godzilla.” The production version of the GT-R, code-named “CBA–R35” (“R35” for short), was unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show to the awe of the automotive press. Its scorching performance figures outpaced the Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari F430, and Lamborghini LP640 roadster — the latter worth nearly quadruple the GT-R’s $70,475 price tag.
Nissan introduced numerous significant upgrades to the R35 over the succeeding decade and a half, increasing its engine output from 478 to 565 horsepower and making interior and exterior styling updates. “There are new spring rates and re-valved dampers, plus a softer front anti-roll bar and bushings,” Car and Driver magazine wrote about the 2015 Premium edition. “Not that Godzilla has gone soft. In corners, the 2015 Nissan GT-R is as flat, fast, and fearless as every R35-chassis GT-R that's come before… With the aid of the viciously effective launch control, we recorded the blitz to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds.”
This three-owner, Gun Metallic GT-R Premium is showing just 17,871 miles, ready to keep the Godzilla tradition.
