Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Thoroughly updated for 1941, the Ford De Luxe was advertised as an affordable car offered ‘at the Ford price that was much more comparable to other higher-priced cars. Promising customers a smooth ride, a large interior, and a completely new design, World War II would mean that very few of these early iterations were produced as much of the production capabilities of the mighty Ford Motor Company were diverted to wartime efforts. Available in a selection of body styles ranging from Station Wagon, Sedan, Convertible, or Coupe, customers were also presented with many different trim levels that helped Ford appeal to a wide variety of customers. Powered by Ford’s iconic Flathead V8, the De Luxe Coupe would also feature hydraulic drum brakes and longer 125 inch spring base which was proved to be an incredibly popular and robust option for tackling nearly any road surface. In addition to World War II affecting production, 1941 models were further scarce due to a sudden labor strike and as a result, remain some of the most difficult-to-find, yet instantly recognizable pre-war Fords due to their beautiful three-part front grille.

This car is part of the George Foreman Collection, which comprises over 50 cars from the 1930s through today, with a focus on American classics and late-model sports cars.

Known Imperfections

Bidders are encouraged to review the Additional Documents section of each lot for any recent mechanical service rendered to help return certain vehicles to running condition. Additionally, bidders should carefully review the photos of each lot in the collection, which may highlight the oxidation of metal components certain vehicles sustained as the result of a garage fire caused by a golf cart battery in March 2019. Although none of the vehicles sustained fire damage from the fire itself, the negative cosmetic effects of the corrosive soot vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle and can be observed in the photo galleries of each lot. All lots are sold as is, where is, and bidders are responsible for any desired diligence before placing a bid.
