Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
As the successor to the revered E-Type, the Jaguar XJ-S debuted in 1975 not as a direct replacement of the E-Type, but rather as an evolution of the brand. Jaguar’s newest sporting luxury grand tourer would remain in continuously evolved production for the next twenty years, making it one of the longest-lived models from Coventry. Featuring a more aggressive design than the curvaceous E-Type, an emphasis on aerodynamics played a crucial role in the XJ-S being one of the world's fastest production cars of its era. While the XJ-S debuted exclusively as a coupe, a limited-production convertible built exclusively for the United States market by Ohio coachbuilders Hess & Eisenhardt arrived in 1986. Powered by an aluminum-alloy naturally aspirated V12, the XJ-S was capable of what Jaguar would describe as “breathtaking acceleration” with 262 horsepower ready to be unleashed.
