Description
The third generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL, also known as the “R107,” was introduced to the world in 1971. This range of luxury roadsters was equipped with a V8 engine, making it a high-performance vehicle. Initially, the range was offered with a 3.5-liter engine, but in 1973, a 4.5-liter engine was also added. As emission regulations became more stringent, Mercedes introduced its first all-aluminum V8 engine in the US market, with a 3.8-liter displacement that offered nearly the same power as the 4.5-liter engine. These cars come with both a folding soft top and a removable steel hardtop, giving drivers the option of an open roadster or a closed coupe. With their classic Teutonic design, these cars – especially low-mileage, original examples such as this – have aged gracefully and are now beloved and versatile classics in the Mercedes-Benz range.
