1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Start-Up and Walk-Around
Description
The second generation Pontiac Firebird was launched in late 1970 during the swan song of the muscle car era. With increasing mandates regarding safety and emission standards, the Firebird evolved to keep the excitement alive, with the corporate slogan now saying “more Pontiac Excitement to the Gallon.” This excitement even led to the development of a turbo-charged 301 cu-in V8, making it the first turbo-charged production V8 of the 1980s. A selection of other performance-oriented V8s remained available for the more traditional buyers. Not just offering straight-line performance, the Trans Am series of cars were used to highlight the link to the SCCA Trans Am racing series. Today these cars provide a fantastic entry point into collector car ownership with seemingly endless ways to maintain their originality or modify them to suit the needs of every owner - just like this 1979 Firebird.
