One-Owner 1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 SS
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Just like when it was new, the fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro continues to be a popular choice for those seeking an exciting driving experience with a reasonable price tag. In 1996, after 24 years, the most notable development for the Camaro was the return of the SS model, a performance-focused package that offered several upgrades to enhance the driving experience. Developed by SLP Engineering, the SS package included a functional hood scoop induction system that boosted the power output of the LT1 V8 engine by 30 horsepower, allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in just under six seconds. In addition to the enhanced power output, the Camaro SS also featured a restyled deck spoiler, revised suspension, and 17 inch alloy wheels that improved its handling and overall performance. The SS package was a lavish option at $3,999, and nearly 20 percent more than a Z28. Only 2,410 buyers elected for the SS option in 1996, making well-preserved examples like the one on offer today increasingly more challenging to find – especially when they are still with their original owner.
