Description

Unveiled at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type ushered in a new era of sports car design and engineering. Beautiful body lines, unrivaled performance, and racing lineage combined to make the E-Type an immediate sensation. With its surprisingly affordable price, it was an instant sales success and a motoring icon adored by collectors and enthusiasts for more than half a century. Changes were introduced gradually to early Series 1 cars (1961-1968), including a larger 4.2-liter engine, open headlights, twin cooling fans, and a change in dashboard design, giving rise to the so-called Series 2 cars in 1969. In addition to its ergonomic and mechanical improvements over the earlier cars, the Series 2 E-Type was also made available with optional power steering and air conditioning, making them overall more user-friendly.

According to its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, this left-hand drive Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) was completed on 2 October 1968 in Ascot Fawn over Cinnamon Connolly leather and dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York, just nine days later. Since then, it is said to have had just four documented owners from new and benefits from a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment undertaken in November 2021. Few classic sports cars offer the tremendous blend of gorgeous looks, effortless drivability, and six-cylinder power offered in this beautifully presented Series 2 E-Type FHC.
