Description
In the months leading up to the United States’ involvement in WWII, automobile output was restricted to 73.5 percent of its output in 1940, leaving buyers with a modest selection of luxury cars on the market before production halted altogether in February 1942. This saw the Packard Super-8 One-Sixty – introduced in 1940 to replace the first-generation Super-8 – last only three model years. Those with the means and foresight to purchase a One-Sixty were met with luxury and plenty of power from its in-line eight-cylinder, 356 cu-in engine producing 160 horsepower. Offered as a sedan, convertible, limousine, or town car, the One-Sixty remains a desirable American classic for its powerful engine, classic styling, and comfortable driving characteristics.
