Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The Bel Airs and Nomads from 1955 to 1957, commonly known as the "Tri-five" models, stand as iconic hot rods that mark a significant milestone in General Motors' history. In 1955, Chevrolet revamped its mid-size car, introducing an enhanced chassis and restyled body available in various configurations. Among the most coveted was the Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop , positioned as the sports coupe in the Chevrolet lineup, emphasizing handling, aesthetics, and performance. Equipped with a 283 cu-in small block, it established itself as the cornerstone for numerous Chevrolet V8 hot rods. The Bel Air's triumph extended beyond performance, as General Motors' styling department meticulously crafted its appearance, drawing inspiration from contemporary Italian designs. The gracefully recessed headlamps and stylish rear fender cutouts became iconic design elements intertwined with the culture of the 1950s. This 1957 Bel Air is offered finished in General Motors Onyx Black with a suitably custom black and red leather interior with unique red camouflage patterns. This Bel Air offers an ownership experience that transcends generations and is a piece of automotive history that continues to captivate enthusiasts and collectors alike.

This car is part of the George Foreman Collection, which comprises over 50 cars from the 1930s through today, with a focus on American classics and late-model sports cars.

Known Imperfections

  • Please note that the vehicles in The George Foreman Collection have been in long-term static storage and will benefit from additional mechanical attention prior to being driven. Bidders are encouraged to review the Additional Documents section of each lot for any recent mechanical service rendered to help return certain vehicles to running condition. Additionally, bidders should carefully review the photos of each lot in the collection, which may highlight the oxidation of metal components certain vehicles sustained as the result of a garage fire caused by a golf cart battery in March 2019. Although none of the vehicles sustained fire damage from the fire itself, the negative cosmetic effects of the corrosive soot vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle and can be observed in the photo
