OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Eighteen years after the debut of their highly successful Model T, Ford unveiled the new Model A in 1927 now available in four standard colors. Offered in different body styles to suit almost every taste and purpose, the new Model A could be ordered in a sleek two-door Roadster body configuration all the way up a wide variety of bodies developed for a range of commercial uses which was further expanded for 1931. Costing $455, the Closed Cab Pickup was among the most popular commercial variants costing just $30 more than the Open Cab Pickup which would entice nearly 100,00 buyers for 1931. Powered by an “L-head” inline four-cylinder engine developing around 40 horsepower, these robust models would utilize steel top cab bodywork produced by the industry leaders in the design and construction of all-steel auto bodies Edward G. Budd Company of Philadelphia, PA. Used across a wide range of applications from municipal fire vehicles to delivery vehicles for hauling produce, some examples were ordered new by popular corporations and provide an even more enticing history for collectors.

Ownership History
The consignor reports that this vehicle was likely used by the Hershey Chocolate Corporation which they discovered during the restoration when the original lettering was found on the door skin. After correspondence with a Hershey representative, it was concluded that based on the yellow lettering commonly used at that time and the fact that Hershey Chocolate Company changed its name to Hershey Chocolate Corporation in 1930 indicate this was likely a Hershey truck. After being purchased by the current owner around 2004, a multi-year restoration was completed in 2011 and has since been enjoyed in Pennslyvania under long-term ownership.
