Description
The Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, part of the “W113” series, is a two-seat roadster produced from 1963 to 1971. Penned by renowned Mercedes styling department head, Paul Bracq the "Pagoda" gained its nickname from the unique shape of its removable hardtop, which resembles the shape of a Japanese pagoda. Paul Bracq, along with Friedrich Geiger, designer of the famed 300 SL and 540 K, played key roles in shaping the iconic look of the W113 series. Their combined efforts resulted in the distinctive and timeless design of the Pagoda, characterized by its clean lines, elegant curves, and, of course, the unique concave shape of the removable hardtop. This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda is equipped with an “M127” 2.3-liter inline-six-cylinder engine. This engine was part of the M127 series and features Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI). The soft suspension and resulting smooth ride are indicative of the designer’s focus on comfort and luxury. Finished in Alpine White over a Midnight Blue MB-Tex upholstery this 1966 230 SL Pagoda not only exudes sophistication but also reflects the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship synonymous with the Mercedes-Benz brand.
