1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 2nd Drive-By
Description
Hot on the heels of the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac launched their sporting Firebird in early 1967. It increased the in-house competition at GM and, perhaps more importantly, provided a direct competitor to the Ford Mustang. While the Firebird had similar body lines to the Camaro, it featured a better integrated front bumper and “slit” rear tail lights, which were similar to those seen on other Pontiac models of the era. A variety of engines were available to power the Firebird, from a 231.89 cu-in overhead cam six-cylinder all the way to the fiery 400 cu-in V8 with the "Ram Air" option kit. There was also a choice of several automatic and manual transmissions. Today these early Firebirds represent the purest of designs with the iconic split front grille with sleekly integrated bumpers.
