1976 Plymouth Trail Duster Sport Walk Around
Description
Before the term SUV was coined in the early 1970s, the multi-purpose vehicle market offered limited options with the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco, and a smattering of Jeeps. Chrysler, watching from a distance, treaded a new path to enter the MPV market introducing their own line of full-size off-roaders - the Dodge Ramcharger AW100 and the Plymouth Trail Duster PW100. These two off-roaders were based on their half-ton pickup, the Dodge W100 and the Plymouth PW100 four-wheel drive. These Mopars differed from the segment-leading Blazer - the Mopar came standard with a collapsible soft top, with a hard top being optional. Given the utility of the trucks, many have been lost to the sands of time, leaving highly original examples, like this Plymouth Trail Duster, as a true rarity on the road today.
