1928 Ford Model A Hot Rod
Description
After 20 years of producing the world-famous Model T, the new Ford Model A made its debut in 1928. In advance of this, all Ford factories saw a global production pause for retooling and retraining. It is said that the total cost for these efforts was approximately $100,000,000 in 1927 - a colossal sum, even today before adjusting for inflation! Aside from being the first Ford product to wear the iconic “Blue Oval,” the 1928 Ford Model A was all new “from radiator cap to rear axle.” The new Ford sported a longer wheelbase, a longer overall length, a lower height and now standard steel-spoke wheels. The Model A’s mechanicals were also improved, with a larger, 200.5 cu-in engine rated at 40 horsepower. The Model A, especially the two-door Roadster model, became a hotrodders delight with widely available performance parts, and the boundless creativity of those who wished to modify their Model A for performance.
