Description

By 1987, the 911's future as a model was assured within Porsche's lineup. Throughout the mid-1980s, gradual improvements began to trickle in for the 3.2-liter 911 Carrera: integrated fog lights in 1984, an updated interior in 1986, and by 1987, the new and much improved G50 transmission was introduced. Porsche engineers are loath to stand still! However, there are aspects of the 911 Porsche that would never change. It was still very much a hand-built sports car as was the case upon introduction as the 901 in 1964. Direct steering feel, world-class braking, and, of course, the raspy, metallic engine note of the famous air-cooled flat-six remained. In fact, the combination of both old and new mark the late 1980s Carrera 3.2s (with Coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa body styles) as the most accessible, yet classic, generation of the timeless Porsche 911.

Rare is the example of a 911 Carrera that comes to market finished in classic colors, with highly desirable options, low mileage, and an exceptional service history, yet this example boasts all four. Specified with a rarely seen Marine Blue interior, sport seats, limited slip differential, and Fuchs forged wheels this 3.2-liter coupe shows just under 40,000 miles and servicing by the most historic Porsche American dealership, Brumos Porsche.

Ownership History

Built in December 1986, this 1987 Porsche 911 Coupe was first purchased via LeRoy Cannon Motors Inc. of Greenville, South Carolina through Brumos Porsche. The included paperwork locates this Carrera 3.2 Coupe in Jacksonville, Florida in April of 1987 with servicing by Brumos Porsche. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report and paperwork show that servicing continued at Brumos through their name change to Porsche Jacksonville for the next 36 years! In early 2023, at just 38,890 miles, this well-maintained 911 changed hands and again visited Porsche Jacksonville for four new Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N-Spec tires, shift bushing replacement and front wheel bearing adjustment.
