1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV Ride Along
Description
When the 105 series Alfa Romeo first debuted as the Giulia Sprint GT in 1963, the automotive world was rapt by the coupe’s achingly beautiful styling penned by a young Giorgetto Giugario at Bertone. Remaining largely unchanged over a 14-year production period, the design continued through numerous models including the Sprint GT, Sprint GTC, Sprint GTV, GT 1300 Junior, GT 1600 Junior, GTV 1750, and finally, the GTV 2000. The GTV 2000 – or Gran Turismo Veloce – was introduced in 1971 in both convertible and coupe forms, and represented the ultimate in the series. A replacement for the 1750, the Alfa’s four-cylinder twin-cam engine grew once again with a change of bore and stroke to 1962 cc for an output of 130 horsepower. The interior trim also changed, with the most notable differences being a more sporting dashboard with a separate instrument cluster and new, more supportive seats.
For years, Alfisti seeking to extract the maximum performance out of their Alfa Romeo have turned to Bristol-based specialists Alfaholics for their extensive catalog of performance upgrades. Ranging from period-correct restorations to all-out race cars, Alfaholics is the company behind some of the most world-renowned Alfa Romeo builds in existence, most recently tuning the 2000 GTV featured in the 2023 blockbuster Fast X. Few classic cars offer the timeless styling, delightful driving dynamics, and sonorous exhaust note of a classic Alfa Romeo, making them hugely desirable – especially tastefully modified examples like the car on offer.
