1930 Ford Model A Coupe
Description
After 19 years in production and over 15,000,000 units sold, the aging Model T faced a changing market and growing field of competitors offering more power, added refinements, and more standard features. Ford responded with the 1928 Model A, with period sales literature for the model boasting that the A was all new “from radiator cap to rear axle.” The new model sported a longer wheelbase, lower stance, and sleek, steel spoke wheels as standard equipment. Mechanically, the Model A doubled the horsepower of its predecessor thanks to its larger 201 cu-in “L-head” inline-four producing 40 horsepower, paired with a new three-speed sliding-gear manual transmission. Like the Model T, the Model A could be had in a slew of body styles ranging from trucks to the attractive Coupe coachwork presented here.
