In 1998, Mercedes offered the new S-Class in five variants for US buyers, from the elegant S 320 short-wheelbase sedan to the flagship V12-powered S 600 long-wheelbase sedan. These top-of-the-range models represent the highest standards of automotive engineering excellence, with the S 600 representing the pinnacle of Mercedes engineers’ lofty goals. The S 600 featured a technically innovative engine of aluminum-alloy construction with dual-overhead cams and 48 valves that produces a peak output of 389 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the S 600 is more than an impressively engineered engine. The passenger compartment is finished in glove-soft Nappa leather on nearly every surface, from the headliner to the dashboard and center console. After a lengthy visit with the S 600, Road and Track concluded that "the feeling of safe, secure motoring was incomparable... it sure was fun to drive."

Ownership History According to the clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, this 1998 Mercedes-Benz S 600 was initially sold at European Motors, Ltd. of San Francisco, California, where it stayed with its original owner until 2010. It was later sold to the next owner in Maryland, with just over 27,500 miles. The third and current owner purchased the car in October 2019 with just over 31,000 miles. Hagerty Marketplace has confirmed a clean title status, the owner maintains the title in hand and will send it to the Hagerty Marketplace team to be reassigned to the new owner after the auction is complete.
