1972 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 Four-Speed Start-Up
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The third generation of the Corvette, known as the C3, featured a completely resigned body and interior while borrowing some chassis components from the previous generation. Designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov and Bill Mitchell, the C3 offered a sharp front end that transitioned into muscular rear fenders for a sleek design influenced by the Mako Shark II concept car. The 1972 Corvette would be the final model year of the classic C3 design with chrome bumpers at both ends before the arrival of a urethane front bumper in 1973. It would also be the last year of the excellent LT1 engine which produced 255 horsepower in its final year. When pitted against the more expensive German competitor of the time, Motor Trend would find that, as usual, the Corvette offered an amazing performance value when compared to its nearest rivals, “There is Corvette and there is Porsche… The difference in machines is not as great as the disparity in price.”
