Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Collaboration between Chrysler and Mitsubishi traces its origins to the early 1970s with vehicles such as the Mitsubishi-built Dodge Colt, but by 1985, the two companies had further formalized their cooperation with Diamond-Star Motors and a factory in Illinois. At the end of the 1980s, the partnership’s flagship, the Starion, was replaced with the cutting-edge GTO platform which would be marketed as the Mitsubishi 3000GT and Dodge Stealth in the United States. Born out of the performance car development war which embroiled all the major Japanese manufacturers at the time, the high-performance VR-4 and R/T Turbo variants shared the same twin-turbocharged, twin-intercooled DOHC 3.0-liter V6 rated at 320 horsepower. Both cars also featured full-time all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering systems that made the GTO platform a technical marvel in the early 1990s. While sales of the 3000GT continued in the United States until 2000, the Stealth was discontinued in 1996, making it the more uncommon variant of the two.
