1966 Plymouth Barracuda Start-Up and Walk-Around
Description
Despite beating Ford to the punch in the pony car race by two weeks, the Plymouth Barracuda never achieved the stratospheric sales of the Mustang. Odd, considering that the Barracuda debuted with a sporty fastback roofline which didn't appear on the Mustang until the 1965 model year, and Chrysler’s Slant-6 engine provided 45 percent more horsepower as standard compared to 1964 ½ Mustangs. The Formula S package introduced in 1965 offered even more power and personalization in the form of an uprated 273 cu-in V8 rated at 235 horsepower – 10 horsepower more than the commonly-specified Mustang 289 cu-in V8. Today, nicely upgraded Barracudas like the car on offer can be satisfying drivers and an enticing and uncommon alternative to the other pony cars of the era.
