1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible Start-Up and Walk-Around
Description
Intended to be “the most potent pony car ever,” the Dodge Challenger emerged in the fall of 1969 joining the newly formed muscle car segment now swarming the nation with thrilling offerings. Aimed at affluent young buyers, the first-generation Challenger offered a range of inline-six and V8 engines and a well-appointed interior for only slightly more than the similarly-priced Plymouth Barracuda. Aggressive exterior styling including a long hood, short decklid, and low-slung stance provided a sporty appearance. Nineteen-seventy-one would be the second and final model year that the first-generation Challenger would be offered as a convertible, making the open-topped variant rare and highly collectible today.
