1935 Ford Hot Rod Start-Up
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
When we think of the pre-war, American Hot Rod many of us would picture in our mind’s eye a 1930s Ford Five Window Coupe, yet this creation by Shawn Mundy, based on a 1935 Ford Pick Up, is an unexpected take on the classic formula of a custom body, large engine, big fat tires, and one-off detail touches. Starting with a 1935 Ford Pick Up, the cab was chopped 5 ½ inches, sectioned 6 inches, channeled 4 inches, and placed on a custom frame built using 2 x 5 inch rectangular tube with a 3⁄16 inch wall thickness. The engine, driveline, and interior feature all manner of modifications listed below. Completed in 2012, the hot rod garnered a “Best Bitchin” class win at the 2012 Good Guys Mid-Western Nationals and a year later, a “Fine Nine” award at Darryl Starbird's 2013 Starbird Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Entering the V&S Collection in 2015, this expertly built hot rod has been an integral part of the collection as a classic representative example of an All-American pre-war hot rod.
