Description

In October of 1953, AC introduced the Ace at the London Motor Show, launching a design that would become the face of what a sports car would look like for the next two decades. This vehicle was constructed on a sports racing platform designed by the renowned engineer John Tojeiro. The Ace was notable for its lightweight design that utilized a ladder-type tubular frame, independent transverse leaf spring suspension, and a two-seater alloy body - all advanced construction methods for its time. Beginning in 1956, the company offered an upgraded “Bristol” engine option, which was closely related to the pre-war six-cylinder BMW engine found in the Bavarian marque’s esteemed 328 sports car. Today, given the age and popularity of these cars and their increasing scarcity, fiberglass replicas such as this example are an alternative to an original. Companies, such as Hawk Cars Ltd., have created replicas that capture the same essence and style instilled into the original while allowing owners the creative liberty to create their own ideal example.

A Broad Arrow Group specialist has inspected and driven this vehicle. He reports that the car is an absolute delight to drive. The handling, performance, and braking of the car are incredibly rewarding. It’s a true enthusiast experience behind the wheel, and it’s obvious there has been extensive attention to dialing it in. Thorough restoration receipts are provided and available for review in the Additional Documents section.
