Description
The Solstice was a different type of Pontiac, one that marked the end of GM's performance-oriented brand in 2010. In production for five years, this sporting two-seater was available as a coupe or an open-air roadster and was built on the innovative Kappa platform, which used hydroformed rails and a centralized chassis backbone to create a rigid chassis. The car came in two trims, the standard trim with a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder, and the GXP trim, which included a 2.0-liter turbocharged variant with a 57-percent power increase, a distinctive front and rear facia, and a limited-slip differential. Unfortunately, in 2010, Solstice production and the Pontiac brand ceased, but the spirit of this exciting, performance-oriented brand lives on with the Solstice GXP today.
