1998 Ford Mustang SVT Convertible Walk Around Video
Description
When the fourth generation Mustang began rolling out of Dearborn in 1993, it was the first major update for the Mustang in 15 years, quickly replacing the beloved Fox Body which successfully restored the pony car’s performance image. While base models were equipped with a V6 engine, the Mustang GT and high-performance Cobra SVT models featured a proper American V8 known by many as the “Romeo Engine.” Carefully hand-built by just two trusted technicians at the engine plant in Romeo, Michigan, this twin camshaft, multi-valve powerplant utilized an all-aluminum block cast by Italian firm, Teksid – a caster of engine components for championship-winning Formula One teams. Producing 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, the SVT Cobra would also feature many handling improvements from the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) including hydraulically power-assisted rack and pinion steering and modified Macpherson-type front suspension with lower control arms, struts, and a 29 mm stabilizer bar. Combined with a power-retractable convertible top, the SVT Cobra provides enthusiasts with a high-performance V8 and an exciting driving experience from an American icon.
