Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

First introduced in 1941, the top-of-the-line Chrysler Town & Country was first offered as a four-door eight-passenger station wagon with both doors and side body panels made of white ash frames and Honduran mahogany wood panels. Only a few hundred models were built for the 1942 model year before production was cut short by America’s entry into World War II. The Town & Country would not make a return until 1946 when it reemerged as a four-door sedan or two-door convertible. An expensive car both to build and to buy, the Town & Country was a conspicuously luxurious offering that required each panel to be fit by hand before final assembly and was the perfect fit for a newly mobile postwar America. While the Town & Country nameplate would live on, these postwar examples, and the convertibles in particular, remain among the most glamorous and valuable American classics. In recognition of this it is one of the very few cars built after World War II that is recognized as a “Full Classic” by the Classic Car Club of America. A true status symbol when new, the Chrysler Town & Country remains instantly recognizable and is sure to garner instant admiration at any car show.

This car is part of the George Foreman Collection, which comprises over 50 cars from the 1930s through today, with a focus on American classics and late-model sports cars.

Known Imperfections

  • Please note that this lot is offered in non-running condition after being stored without operation in a climate-controlled facility for at least 10 years. As a result, it will benefit from additional mechanical attention before being driven to address any imperfections associated with long-term storage or individual preferences. Bidders are encouraged to review the Additional Documents section of each lot for any recent mechanical service rendered to help return certain vehicles to running condition. Additionally, bidders should carefully review the photos of each lot in the collection, which may highlight the oxidation of metal components certain vehicles sustained as the result of a garage fire caused by a golf cart battery in March 2019. Although none of the vehicles sustained fire damage from the fire itself, the negative cosmetic effects of the corrosive soot vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle and can be observed in the photos.

  • Lack of engine compression

  • Tear noted on the convertible top

  • Scratch on fuel door

  • Scratches on driver’s door

Included

  • Full size spare
