31k-Mile 2006 Cadillac XLR
Description
Known by some as the “luxury Corvette,” the Cadillac XLR entered the market in 2004 as the brand’s flagship two-seater convertible offering based on the C6 Corvette’s rear-wheel drive chassis. Borrowing the scalpel-sharp body lines previewed by the 1999 Evoq concept car, it was arguably the purest application of the “Art and Science” design language that made it to Cadillac showrooms. The XLR’s low, sleek profile was also enhanced by the touch of a button, which prompted its power-folding hardtop to completely disappear. Inside, the XLR was a departure from the Corvette’s plastic furnishings with an interior swathed in sumptuous hides, anodized aluminum, or eucalyptus wood. Smooth power and seamless shifts were delivered by a 320-horsepower Northstar V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, giving the XLR superb driving characteristics to match its luxurious ambiance.
