1952 MG TD
Video Gallery

Description
The pre-war MG TA sparked the iconic T-Series that introduced MG’s immediately recognizable radiator design, the swept fenders, running boards, folding windscreen, and large accessible bonnet. Yet, only a few of the famous two seat sports cars were produced before World War II began. In 1949 a small group of MG leaders, headed by John Thornley, began to formulate plans for a car that would appeal to the North American market. The team settled on the TA model to serve as the basis and combined it with what had been learned during the war years. After the progressive improvements of the TB and TC, the new MG TD was designed and engineered with updated styling, better turning and handling, a smoother ride, and more creature comforts such as a heater core. By July 1951, the 1250 cc XPAG four-cylinder engine received an updated block with a new sump, a new bell-housing, and a new flywheel in order to accommodate a larger clutch. The MG TD would go on to become the epitome of a post-war English sports car, beloved by all for its authentic sporting characteristics.
Finished in Dark Blue paint over red leather upholstery with paint-matched red accents on the wheels and grille, this right-hand drive 1952 MG TD is the beneficiary of a frame-off restoration. With subtle upgrades throughout, this MG TD is eager to hit the road to a Sunday morning car show or on a classic motoring tour.
