1970 Citroën Méhari Ride-Along
Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Citroën Méhari was not the first lightweight utility and recreational convertible when it was introduced in 1968, but it quickly became one of the most popular and recognizable on the coasts of Europe. Named after the fast-running dromedary camel, the spritely Méhari weighed only 1,179 pounds owing to its ABS plastic bodywork and detachable vinyl roof. Underneath sat the mechanicals of the Dyane 6 version of the venerable Citroën 2CV, including its independent torsion bar suspension and 602 cc air-cooled twin-cylinder engine driving the front wheels. The Méhari remained largely unaltered during its 20 years in production apart from gaining detachable vinyl doors in 1970. Today, Méharis remain highly prized coastal runabouts for their charming color schemes and rugged simplicity, and this example finished in striking Vert Tibesti is no exception.
