1919 Ford Model T Center Door Sedan
Description
The Model T was introduced to the world in 1908 with the basic premise that it should be affordable, simple to operate, and durable. One of the first mass-production vehicles, "The Universal Car” was manufactured at Ford’s revolutionary Highland Park Plant. The innovative car featured the placement of the steering wheel on the left side, providing passengers with convenient entry and exit from the vehicle. The engine block and crankcase were cast as a single unit and the Model T was one of the first automobiles to have a removable cylinder head for easy access, utilizing the lightweight but strong alloy known as vanadium steel for this new innovation. The nimble transmission of the Model T simplified shifting, and constant improvements and innovations that would follow propelled the world towards a more urban lifestyle. With more than 15,000,000 Model T’s sold, it was so popular Henry Ford once said: “There’s no use trying to pass a Ford, because there’s always another one just ahead.”
